Pope Francis leaving hospital tomorrow after a severe illness

Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Pope Francis, 87 years old, will leave Gemelli Hospital tomorrow, March 23, 2025, after battling double pneumonia. He endured 2 critical phases where his life was in danger. but is recovering. He’ll bless people at noon before resting for 2 months at the Vatican.

According to the doctors at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome Pope will be allowed to return home tomorrow, March 23, 2025, and can return to the Vatican. The Pope is going to wave to people tomorrow from his hospital window. He will give them a blessing. This will be his first time appearing in public since he got sick. The Pope will do this at noon. 

Will Pope Francis fully recover after his severe illness?

According to officials, the Pope is getting better, but his illness has left him needing to relearn how to speak. He had to use a lot of oxygen, which made his voice weak. Doctors say he will need to practice speaking again. A recording of the Pope’s voice was released recently, and it sounded different. But he is starting to pray again. 

The Pope spent 5 weeks in the hospital initially admitted for bronchitis. However, his condition worsened, developing into a serious case of double pneumonia. Doctors emphasized that his condition was severe and that he endured 2 critical phases where his life was in danger.  He will continue to recover at his residence for at least 2 months. Doctors will be watching him closely to make sure he gets better.

Doctors mentioned that the Pope had a hard time breathing during his illness. Doctors gave him oxygen through a mask several times.  But, even though he was very sick, they never had to put a tube in his throat to help him breathe.
