Antwerp Central Station: 47-year-old arrested for stabbing

Antwerp (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The police made their arrest of the suspect who committed the fatal stabbing at Schijnpoortweg near the Central Station after midnight. It concerns a 47-year-old man. “He will be questioned in the next phase,” according to the public prosecutor’s office.

Police authorities arrested a person after a fatal stabbing attack in Antwerp. The assault took place in the vicinity of Schijnpoortweg, which is situated near the Central Station, during the late hours of midnight. Toward public prosecutors, the detained 47-year-old male suspect will be interviewed for questioning after his capture by authorities. Immediate medical responders treated the victim, yet he succumbed to his wounds.

The Free Clinic, located in Antwerp, served as a regular place of residence for the victim and suspect, who are both homeless addicts. The precise sequence of events which resulted in the stabbing created uncertainties for authorities who have not revealed any motive behind the incident. The public prosecutor’s office stated,

He will be questioned in the next phase,”

Indicating that further investigation is underway to determine the events that transpired.
