Meyboom a Celebration of Society and Culture in Brussels

Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper): Meyboom the Tree of joy which Brussels recognizes as a tradition is a yearly celebration that takes place every August 9 in honor of a defeat on Leuven made 1213 therethrough. The Brotherhood of Saint Laurentius has been with this noble event since last 716 birthdays today they are regretting the loss.

These are some of the preparations to re-plant Meyboom. A local tradition that is valued with recognition as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco every year. The Brotherhood of the Companions of Saint Laurentius . It goes back to 1213 and a victory by Brussels over Leuven. The Leuveners followed up the day after a beer tax-based disagreement with Brussels and stormed a wedding party at The Barn Het Cattenhuys.

What is the significance of the Meyboom planting tradition?

 The aid given by The Saint Laurentius Group of Brussels and repaying with their duke parisisous they allowed them planting a Meyboom every year on 9 August as an act of recollection for defending Duke’s honour.
