Belgium (Brussels Morning Newspaper), As long as Western democracies cannot target the head of the snake in Tehran, their approaches for preventing the expansion of regional conflicts will fail. Iran is the epicenter of warmongering and terrorism in the Middle East; therefore, every policy that downgrades the destructive role of the Iranian regime in a peace process has no chance of success.
Iranian regime lost all its strategical achievements after the low turnout in elections masquerade and the killing of 7 top IRGC Generals:
The main reason for the ignition of the conflicts in the Middle East started with the incapability of the Iranian regime to resolve internal crises. After several nationwide uprisings and deteriorating economics, the clerics in Iran played their last card with a regional crisis to divert attention from the revolutionary situation in Iran.
Founded on the blood of more than 30000 innocent lives including, women, children, and elderlies, the Iranian regime believed that they had made a shield to protect their reign against rebellious Iranian youth and women. However, the national boycott of the elections and the strong Nowruz campaigns organized by the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) Resistance Units in Iran exposed the illegitimacy of the Ayatollahs in Tehran. According to the MEK’s network in Iran, its “Resistance Unites” have conducted more than 3000 operations to target repressive sites in Iran from March 2023 to March 2024. In addition, Resistance Unites participated in more than 27000 revolutionary actions by ripping and torching the banners and symbols of the Iranian regime. All these operations and campaigns were conducted under intense surveillance of the Iranian regime’s security and repressive forces.
Such an organized and growing resistance in Iran sends a clear signal that the rebellious youth of Iran are no longer intimidated by the regime’s repressive measures and executions.
Ayatollah is reaching to the dead-end:
Although the Iranian regime’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, threatened revenge, he is extremely weak to be capable of an equivalent response. If the Iranian regime decided to directly attack Israeli targets, he would prepare for a full-scale war. On the other hand, activating other militia groups, even Hezbollah, declare that Ayatollah avoids direct external conflicts which will make other IRGC Generals as fruitful targets. It also erupts amongst its forces inside the country when they observe that their regime cannot even protect IRGC leaders in the region.
Being incapable for responding to the recent attack against its top IRGC generals, and losing all its strategic achievements, put the Ayatollah in a weaker position that can lead to more internal protests. During the involvement of the Iranian regime in Syria and the killing of 500,000 Syrians, he stated that if we do not fight in Syria we have to fight our enemies in Hamedan, Kermanshah, and Isfahan. Clearly, he is referring to the Iranian people who showed how much determined they are to overthrow the regime.
EU must follow a new approach vis à vis the Iranian regime
In conclusion “In today’s world, amidst the largest wars and humanitarian crises, ranging from the Middle East conflict to the war in Ukraine, innocent women and children invariably emerge as the first victims. The definitive solution lies in overthrowing the fundamentalist religious tyranny ruling Iran.” posted Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran on her X account. Thus, western democracies cannot confront only the Iranian regime’s militias, they must take decisive actions to halt the Iranian regime threats and promote the desires of the Iranian youth to establish a free, democratic, and secular Iran. For this purpose, western countries must keep the Iranian regime authorities accountable for crimes against humanity as has been declared in the Fact-Finding Mission’s report. EU must designate IRGC as a terrorist organization, especially for their regional crimes and their crimes against the people of Iran. Finally, with the recognition of the right of resistance for the Iranian youth, the EU would play its historical role in defending its values of freedom, democracy and equality.
