Moscow (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Vladimir Rogov, Chairman of the Russian Civic Chamber commission on sovereignty, patriotic projects, and support for veterans said the statement made by the UK and the EU nations about moving to the “operational phase” of sending soldiers of the “coalition of the willing” to Ukraine is a bluff, since it was conditioned on the provision of security guarantees by the U.S., Russian news agency TASS reporeted.

The statement about the operational details of introducing occupation troops into the post-Ukrainian space from the lips of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is essentially a bluff because he immediately stipulates that this is possible only with the support of the United States,

stated Chairman of the Russian Civic Chamber Vladimir Rogov.

He stated that the entry of third-country contingents into Ukraine would be unlawful and would be defiant to the interests of security and the creation of long-term peace, state-run media agency TASS reported.

I am convinced that the appearance of British, German, French and other foreign troops will make them a priority target for our army since they cannot have any legal mandate to operate in this territory,

the official also said.

How does Russia view foreign troops in Ukraine?

A day earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the deployment of NATO soldiers under any flag and in any capacity on Ukrainian soil is a threat to Russia. According to him, Russia will not allow this under any conditions.

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin expressed at a press conference on March 13 following discussions with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko that Moscow supports proposals to cease hostilities in Ukraine, but they must bring long-term peace and eradicate the root causes of the crisis.

On March 11, discussions were arranged in the Saudi city of Jeddah between the United States and Ukraine delegations. Following those conversations, a joint statement was issued by the parties, according to which Ukraine is willing to accept the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, and the US will immediately lift the delay in providing intelligence and resume military assistance to Kyiv.
