Kyiv (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Kremlin’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said that the European Union’s position in the next Ukraine peace talks is “ruled out.”

“Today, the EU countries and Europeans are demanding for some reason a place at the negotiating table to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. This is simply astonishing since they have been at this table for many years,”

Grushko told reporters.

If the European Union wants to support bringing peace to Ukraine,

“it is essential to stop [its] arms deliveries,”

He also said.

Grushko stated that currently, there is no evidence that there could be a potential breakthrough in the Russia-EU ties. Meanwhile, addressing Europe possibly sending peacekeeping troops to Ukraine, he stressed that Russia views this in a negative way, as it believes such moves will only lead to further tensions.

How are talks between the US and Russia conducted in Riyadh?

Currently, the U.S. and Russia are meeting in Riyadh for their foremost dialogues on concluding the war in Ukraine, as Kyiv and its European allies observe from the sidelines. The discussions in the Saudi capital highlighted the rapid pace of U.S. efforts to stop the war, just six days after President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Riyadh discussions brought together three U.S. officeholders in the first month of their jobs – Secretary of State Marco Rubio, national security adviser Mike Waltz and Trump’s Middle East representative Steve Witkoff – against Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in office since 2004, and veteran Putin assistant Yuri Ushakov.

As reported by Reuters, Media were authorized to film the two panels, seated on opposite flanks of a shiny wooden table with large white floral displays. The officials missed shouted queries from reporters questioning whether the U.S. was neglecting the Ukrainians and what privileges the US was demanding of Moscow.
