Washington (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – U.S. President Donald Trump, after taking office, issued a series of executive actions, including leaving the World Health Organization and climate bodies and directing a halt of U.S. foreign aid.

Moreover, a series of orders concentrated on immigration, such as announcing an emergency on the U.S.-Mexico boundary, terminating asylum, and ending birthright citizenship for some kids born in the U.S. The New president also instructed vetting and inspection “to the maximum degree possible” for all those who desire to enter the U.S. and for the government to determine nations that may have screening procedures flawed enough to authenticate blocking their citizens from entering the United States.

How did the “America First” policy shape Trump’s directives?

An order he inked directs new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to concentrate State Department efforts on the “America First” form of foreign policy and that mission.

“From this day forward, the foreign policy of the United States shall champion core American interests and always put America and American citizens first,”

the order stated.

What was Trump’s criticism of the Paris Climate Accord?

Trump also ordered the United States to exit from the 2015 Paris Climate Accord. He expressed the U.S. has a thriving record of “advancing both economic and environmental objectives” that should be a standard to other nations.

Why did President Trump withdraw the U.S. from WHO?

The president also ordered the United States to exit from the World Health Organization (WHO) due to objections that the agency mishandled the COVID-19 pandemic and gained too many grants from the U.S. Trump stated the WHO had failed to function independently from the

“inappropriate political influence of WHO member states”

and demanded

“unfairly onerous payments”

from the U.S. that were unnecessary to the funds delivered by other, larger nations, such as China.

Regarding trade, Trump gave an order calling for a reexamination of a number of trade deals, including one with China and the U.S.-Mexico-Canada deal. He also expressly called for an examination of “unlawful migration and fentanyl flows” from Mexico, Canada, and China.

What were Trump’s directives in the first term?

Similarly, during his first year in 2018, President Donald Trump issued a series of landmark executive orders that paved the way for policy priorities during his presidency, such as anti-poverty efforts, increased market integrity, and foreign entity sanctions. The creation of the President’s National Council for the American Worker and efforts on behalf of military spouses exemplify the concentration on economic opportunity and national security.
