Halle (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Restaurant De Veroon in Lembeek (Halle), owned by Annemie Debast and Kevin Dragone, will reopen on their home’s ground floor in October 2025, after a June ceiling collapse, hosting 22 guests.

As VRT News reported, restaurant De Veroon in Lembeek (Halle) was forced to close after a serious incident in early June 2025. The restaurant will reopen in October 2025. The couple decided to transform their private home into the new location for De Veroon. The house is close to the former building. Visitors will now be received in a homely setting, where the couple can continue to prepare and serve their dishes.

Will De Veroon reopen in their home after the June ceiling collapse?

The new restaurant can host about 22 people and now includes a bar. The office area has also been adapted so it can be rented for meetings or private dinners.

“We turned our entire house upside down for this,”

says Annemie.

“We also had to make room for the kitchen we used in the previous building.”

The family now lives entirely in the attic.

“There is plenty of space and natural light, so it works well for us,”

said Annemie. Visitors can visit the restaurant for the first time on Sunday afternoon, October 5th, 2025. The official opening will be on October 9th, 2025, when the couple will welcome guests to dine in their living room.

On the night of June 5 to 6, 2025, the ceiling of the rental unit collapsed due to water leakage. Owners Annemie Debast and Kevin Dragone were asleep at the time. When they woke up the next morning, they discovered the damage. The structural engineer and fire marshal determined that the building was unsafe and uninhabitable and that repairs would take time.

The couple, who had been running the restaurant, suddenly had no working space left. Closing the business was not an option, but waiting for the repairs was also not possible. They quickly began to search for a new solution to keep their restaurant open.
