Strasbourg (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Greens/EFA to host a Strasbourg press briefing with MEPs and European mayors to discuss urban initiatives and climate advocacy.

Today on 22 Oct 2024 the Greens/European Free Alliance Group will hold a regular Strasbourg plenary press briefing with Group Presidents MEP Terry Reintke and MEP Bas Eickhout at 11:00 am in the Daphne Caruana Galizia Press Room in Strasbourg.

As reported by Greens/EFA, mayors from across Europe will also be at the European Parliament in Strasbourg to join Green Mayor Jeanne Barseghian for the European Mayors Summit: A better Europe starts in cities. Further mayors including Gergely Karácsony (Budapest), Grégory Doucet (Lyon) and Tomislav Tomašević (Zagreb) will be attending and answering media inquiries.

In addition, MEP Lena Schilling will be joined hands with Ugandan climate advocates for a photo action and the opportunity for discussions, in front of the hemicycle at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. These activists, among them Evelyn Acham and Nicholas Omonuk are at the vanguard of the fight against the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP). According to the Greens/European Free Alliance Group along with COP29, this is a powerful chance to stand in solidarity with those enduring the brunt of the climate crisis and send a clear message: Make polluters pay.
