Antwerp (Brussels Morning Newspaper): A 29-year-old fugitive driver crashed into two parked cars in Antwerp at 4 a.m., fled towards Vestpark, and was arrested on Eric Sasselaan for DUI and resisting arrest.

On 9th November in the morning, around 4 a.m., a young driver in his twenties lost control of his car and crashed into two parked cars, causing significant damage. The impact left the parked vehicles heavily dented. After the accident, the driver fled the scene by walking, heading towards the nearby Vestpark area to avoid facing the consequences.

How did police capture a drunk 29-year-old fugitive after a car crash?

The police were quickly called and started looking for the driver who ran away. They found him on Eric Sasselaan after searching the area and stopped him from escaping.  The driver involved in the accident was found to be drunk and did not have a valid driver’s license. The police wanted him before this incident. When the police caught him on Eric Sasselaan, the 29-year-old tried to resist arrest and run away again. Although he showed clear signs of being intoxicated, he refused to take the breath and saliva tests usually required for suspected drunk driving.

The two damaged cars from the accident were towed away for checking and repairs. The owners of the parked cars were quickly told about the damage and that their vehicles were involved in the crash. The police are still looking into the case, considering the suspect’s past as a fugitive, his drunken state, and his attempt to escape, which could lead to more charges.
