Anderlecht (Brussels Morning Newspaper): Chadi Cherfan, leader of Team Fouad Ahidar, raised concerns about voting irregularities in Anderlecht’s 2024 local elections. Despite this, TFA secured 14.1% of the vote, winning seven seats. Cherfan reported issues like candidates entering booths and improper campaigning, prompting a complaint to authorities.

Chadi Cherfan, the main candidate for Team Fouad Ahidar (TFA) in Anderlecht, is worried about problems with counting votes in the 2024 local elections. He said there were delays in eight voting places where counting took around four hours. Cherfan thinks this was unusual and made it harder to get the election results quickly.

How did Chadi Cherfan’s TFA achieve 14.1% amid voting irregularities?

The leader of FA in Anderlecht, Cherfan, said there were many problems during the voting. He noticed a candidate going into the voting booth with voters and candidates handing out flyers at polling stations, which he claims only PS candidates did. Cherfan also mentioned issues with proxies. He said they have collected evidence, including photos, of these problems and have submitted a report to the Brussels public prosecutor’s office. They also filed a complaint with the Court before the deadline.

Despite these issues team Fouad Ahidar became the fourth party with 14.1 percent of the votes, securing seven seats, the same number as the PB/PVDA faction which got 14.9 percent. The PS, led by Mayor Fabrice Cumps, received 26.8 percent of the votes for fifteen seats, while the MR won the elections with 27.3 percent and has fifteen seats.
