Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Daan Alferink and Sophie Beguin are disappointed with their Brussels “Blind Bought” apartment. They disagree with designers Dan and Dorien, and friend Lenna helps with the decorating, focusing on changeable elements.

Daan Alferink and Sophie Beguin, a young couple buying their first home in Brussels, are feeling disappointed. They recently bought an apartment with a great view, but they don’t like the interior.

Daan thinks the floor pattern is “disgusting.” Their real estate agent, Sophie, thought they wanted a home with a unique style.  But the couple feels the apartment doesn’t match their taste at all. They are frustrated and regret their decision.  They were hoping to find a place that reflected their style, but now they feel like they’ve made a mistake.

Why are Daan & Sophie struggling with designers in Brussels?

The couple is even more upset now because of the interior designer, Dan.  He’s supposed to be good at decorating, but Lenna doesn’t like his ideas. She thinks his designs look nice, but they’re not what she wants.

She was surprised because she thought Dan would understand their style. Lenna also criticised another designer, Dorien, for just copying ideas from her Pinterest board. Now the couple can’t communicate with the design team because they disagree so much.

Daan says the whole experience has been “awful” and he’s very stressed. Lenna, Sophie’s friend, is helping them with the decorating.  She wants any bright colours to be on things that can be easily changed later, like furniture.  She doesn’t want anything permanent in the kitchen or bathroom. Lenna wants a design that can be changed over time.
