Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A Brussels Airlines flight with 139 passengers to Berlin was evacuated at Brussels Airport after a bomb threat. Police found no explosives. Nico Cardone confirmed safety as the top priority.

As Niewsblad News reported, a Brussels Airlines flight to Berlin was evacuated on Wednesday morning, Oct 1, 2025, at Brussels Airport after a bomb threat was reported. The flight was scheduled to depart at 9:30 a.m. when federal police warned of a possible danger involving the aircraft.

The plane was moved to a secure area on the tarmac. All passengers and crew members left the aircraft. Emergency services and police were deployed immediately. The plane was searched in detail for any suspicious objects. Brussels Airlines spokesperson Nico Cardone said that the safety of passengers and staff came first. Police later confirmed that no explosives were found on board.

What led to the evacuation of a Brussels Airlines flight with 139 passengers after a bomb threat at Brussels Airport?

Brussels Airport said the incident only affected this one flight and that all other operations continued as planned. A spokesperson explained that services at the airport were fully operational and that flights were not delayed. Police have started an investigation to trace the source of the threat and to find out if it was a hoax.

A total of 139 passengers were waiting after the Brussels Airlines flight to Berlin was evacuated. Their baggage could not be removed immediately, because the aircraft first had to be searched by the police.

“Not everyone who takes a flight from Brussels to Berlin has Berlin as their final destination. Some continue their journey. Our teams will find a solution for every passenger as soon as we know when we can resume operations,

Cardone explains.

Brussels Airlines announced that travel arrangements for the passengers would be handled once the inspection was finished. The airline said its ticketing office was looking at options to rebook passengers on flights later in the day or reroute passengers through different connections to Berlin.

On 13 May 2025, a Ryanair flight from Faro to Charleroi was evacuated due to a reported bomb threat which caused disruption of all flights until investigations concluded it was a hoax. Brussels Airport was also evacuated issued a late night false alarm on 29 May 2019.

2 planes arriving from Oslo and Stockholm landed in Brussels, with bomb-threat warnings, on 11 August 2016, and authorities did not find any danger after it was searched. Ostend Airport was evacuated on 18 October 2023 after a threat email stated that suspicious packages were sent, but those were ultimately harmless.
