Borsbeek play forest at Fort 3 temporarily closed for safety

Borsbeek (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The forest play area at Fort 3 in Borsbeek is closed due to dangerous broken branches at the start of the Easter holidays. Mayor Walter Kiebooms ensures safety. Workers will remove branches this week. Other play areas and sheep at Schanslaan remain open.

The play forest at Fort 3 in Borsbeek, a municipality in the province of Antwerp, Belgium, is closed for a while because it’s not safe at the start of the Easter holidays. According to the officials, strong winds have made some branches in the trees break and hang down dangerously. They mentioned that these branches could fall at any time and injure someone, especially the children who play there. 

The mayor, Walter Kiebooms, said it’s important to keep everyone safe.  That’s why they decided to close the play forest until the dangerous branches are taken down. They will reopen it when it is safe for everyone to play again.

Why is the play forest at Fort 3 in Borsbeek closed?

According to the officials, workers will be removing the dangerous branches this week.  They want to make sure the play forest is safe for everyone.  Once the work is done and it’s safe, the play forest will open again.  The play forest will be closed for a short time while the workers make sure it’s safe for everyone to play there.

They mentioned that there are other places where kids can play in Borsbeek, Belgium. There is a big playground at Fort 3, which is still open.  Kids can also play at the Floris Primspark and the district park.  These parks have playgrounds and open spaces.

Officials mentioned that this week, sheep will be brought back to the buffer basin on Schanslaan.  Visitors can walk through the area and see the sheep. Visitors said that the sheep make the area special and fun to visit.
