Antwerp (Brussels Morning) – The Waterbus service between Sint-Anna and Kallosluis is suspended due to a leak at TotalEnergies, causing inconvenience for commuters who rely on this public transport option.

There’s a problem with the Waterbus service between the Sint-Anna and Kallosluis stops. This service is super important for folks who travel between the city center and the harbor every day for work. But with the service suspended in that stretch people who rely on the Waterbus for their daily commute can’t use it. This highlights how crucial it is to have other reliable public transport options available when there are disruptions like this so commuters don’t face too much inconvenience.

What impact does the Waterbus disruption have on commuters in Antwerp?

The Waterbus or bus line 83 run by De Lijn is super important for folks traveling between Beveren and the Kallo lock in Belgium. It starts from Beveren’s market square and gives people a cool way to travel along the Scheldt river. It’s mainly used by commuters and travelers going between these places. People like it because it’s quick, offers a nice view and is a different way to travel compared to roads. It directly connects Beveren to the Kallo lock. At Bevere, people can easily switch to buses that go to or come from Linkeroever on the other side of the river. This connection makes it easier for travelers to reach their destinations all around the region using the Waterbus. The Waterbus runs on a schedule that suits commuters on weekdays and might change a bit for weekends and holidays. This makes it a dependable choice for both daily commuters and people exploring the water routes in the area.

Total Energies found a leak that caused some issues and they had to take big steps to keep things safe. The problem was discovered on Monday and it’s been causing a bad smell in the area lately. To make sure everyone stays safe they closed off a big part of the Scheldedijk which is probably a protective wall along the river so people can’t go there for now. They’re working hard to fix the leak by almost finishing pumping out the tank that was affected. But they want to make sure everything is completely cleaned up and safe so they need to do more stuff. As a safety step they’ve stopped ships from going through that area until at least 8 o’clock tonight to avoid any dangers or making the problem worse.
