The EU has committed nearly €2 billion for humanitarian aid in 2025, with a significant portion allocated to the Middle East. Lahbib stressed the necessity of inclusive governance in Syria, and the support from the EU would be through emergency assistance: food, medical aid, and educational support for children.
She emphasized the need for unhampered access for humanitarian aid in war-torn areas mainly because conflict has a very devastating effect on women and children. According to her, reconstruction cannot be initiated in an area without first having peace and stability.
We had a great meeting with vibrant Jordanian civil society representatives.
