MEPs Rally for Empowering Small and Medium-sized Enterprises

Belgium (Brussels Morning Newspaper), In a remarkable display of commitment to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Renew Europe has delivered a resolute resolution in the European Parliament, paving the way for a thriving and competitive business environment. The resolution, drafted by MEP Martina Dlabajová (ANO 2011, the Czech Republic), has garnered widespread support and serves as an unequivocal mandate to empower SMEs in their pursuit of growth and success.

MEP Dlabajová, a stalwart advocate for SMEs, chairs Renew Europe’s SME Taskforce, co-chairs the SME Intergroup, and serves as the Renew Europe coordinator in the Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) committee. She stated, “Renew Europe has tirelessly supported and listened to SMEs in various forums and formats over the past years to be able to legislate according to their priorities and difficulties. This resolution is incontrovertible proof of this.”

The European Parliament’s overwhelming support for the resolution sends a clear message that SMEs deserve a favorable environment to operate and flourish. With this mandate, Renew Europe positions itself at the forefront of proposals and measures aimed at reducing bureaucratic hurdles, enhancing access to finance, simplifying reporting processes, and providing additional resources to help SMEs navigate the energy, climate, and digital transitions.

Dlabajová further remarked, “Today, the European Parliament has given a very clear mandate to empower SMEs to operate in a thriving and competitive environment. We are at the forefront of proposals and measures for reducing red tape, better access to finance, simplified reporting processes, additional resources to help SMEs cope with the energy, climate, and digital transitions.”

The resolution comes at a crucial time when SMEs are facing unprecedented challenges due to the ongoing economic shifts and global uncertainties. By championing their cause, Renew Europe aims to equip SMEs with the necessary tools and support to overcome these obstacles and thrive in an ever-changing business landscape.

The forthcoming SMEs Relief Package, currently being prepared by the Commission and the Council, stands as a crucial opportunity to address the needs and concerns of SMEs. Renew Europe urges both entities to take heed of the Parliament’s resolution, ensuring that the package aligns with the aspirations and requirements of SMEs.

“European strategic autonomy is also about protecting our SMEs because their survival and growth is the survival and growth of Europe,” emphasized Dlabajová. Renew Europe firmly believes that by empowering SMEs, Europe secures its own economic well-being and strengthens its position on the global stage.

The resolution reflects Renew Europe’s unwavering commitment to SMEs, underlining the vital role they play in driving innovation, creating jobs, and fostering economic growth. By reducing administrative burdens and facilitating access to finance, the European Parliament aims to foster an ecosystem where SMEs can fully unleash their potential and contribute to Europe’s prosperity.

Renew Europe’s call to action resonates with the wider business community and stakeholders who recognize the significance of SMEs in Europe’s economic fabric. As the resolution gains traction and garners attention, it serves as a catalyst for further dialogue and collaboration to develop robust policies and initiatives that prioritize the needs of SMEs.

In delivering this resolute resolution, Renew Europe has solidified its commitment to SMEs, pledging to work tirelessly to ensure their continued success and competitiveness. It is through such dedicated efforts that the European Union can create an inclusive and vibrant business environment where SMEs can thrive, innovate, and contribute to the overall well-being of Europe.
