London, July 15 Brussels Morning Newspaper – Iran espionage charges are once again drawing international attention after British citizen Craig Foreman was reportedly handed an additional two-year prison sentence while serving an earlier 10-year term in Iran. His family said the latest sentence followed a court hearing where he allegedly had no lawyer or translator, raising renewed concerns over due process and judicial fairness.

Additional Sentence Sparks International Concern

According to the Foreman family, Iranian authorities imposed the extra prison term after accusing Craig Foreman of speaking with international media while in custody. British officials said they remain deeply concerned and continue to press Tehran for the release of both Craig and his wife, Lindsay Foreman, who was also convicted on espionage-related allegations.

The family maintains that both have consistently denied the accusations and says the legal process has lacked transparency.

Iran Espionage Charges Increase Diplomatic Pressure

The case has added fresh pressure to already strained UK-Iran relations. Human rights organizations and United Nations experts have previously questioned the fairness of the proceedings involving foreign detainees in Iran.

A spokesperson for the UK’s Foreign Office said the government remains committed to supporting the family and is pursuing diplomatic efforts to secure the couple’s release.

The latest ruling is expected to keep the case in international headlines as legal and diplomatic discussions continue.
