Belgium (The Brussels Morning newspaper): Around 200 comic artists participated in the BD Comic Strip Festival at Gare Maritime, featuring book signings, cultural displays, interactive exhibits, and engaging activities for children, including workshops and games.
According to resources, over the weekend, around 200 comic artists were busy signing books for visitors at 75 stands set up at the Gare Maritime site. Besides all the fun stuff arranged by book companies, people could join different talks and shows. Brussels said the boldest visitors discovered new things through cultural displays from other countries at the International Shelter.
What magical experiences awaited kids at the festival?
It has been said that large, bright-colored balloons in the form of cartoon and movie characters especially attracted the children to participate in the festival. The balloons at the event looked amazing as they floated gently in the air, making kids curious and excited about what else was there at the festival. The big, colorful balloons made the festival feel like a magical place where kids could dream big and have fun. During the festival, children could participate in many fun-filled workshops and games to bring their favorite heroes to life. Superhero mask-making, solving puzzles, and thematic challenges turn the festival into one full of entertainment and learning for all.
During the festival, there was a cool exhibition called “Extra VĂ©gĂ©talia” by GwĂ©nola Carrère. It contained great art and hands-on stuff showcasing the unique comic world of Carrère. The exhibition celebrated Carrère’s fantastic art and showed comics, unlike everyday stories. They also had a stand on Dino Attanasio, a master Belgian comic artist, showing his works. Even the Museum of Belgian Comics Art participated in their exhibit ‘Jazz & Comics’ to make it fun.
