“Yesterday they received the message that the exam copies of some of their exams were lost. They were supposedly unintentionally given away when the paper was collected. The latter now appears to be incorrect”,
UGent responds.
How did Ghent University recover the missing exams?
Ghent University found the missing exams later that night. The university quickly told the students about the recovery. Officials mentioned that this news made students feel better but raised questions about how the exams got lost. UGent has not shared more details about the loss and recovery, but they assured students they are taking it seriously.
“At that time, it was thought that the exams were irretrievably lost,”
UGent said.
Ghent University announced that they will not need backup plans for grading now that the missing exams have been found. Initially, they thought about giving points to students without the exams. Since the exams are back, they will use the original grading system. The total points for each course will be calculated as planned.
According to UGent, they are sorry for the worry caused by the wrong news about the lost exams. They know this makes students anxious about their grades. The university stated that the important thing is the exams are found and will be graded correctly. By not needing extra exams, UGent wants to bring back fairness in grading. They also promised students that their results would be handled as planned.
“We regret the unnecessary unrest that this has caused. But the most important thing now is that the exams are correct and that new exams are not necessary.”
