A fire started yesterday on 28 july at Transferium BV, a freight company in the port of Ghent. It has been said that it’s been tough for the firefighters because the fire is smoldering making it hard to put out completely. They have to keep a close eye on it because of the thick smoke and hidden hotspots. The cause of the fire is still unknown and investigations are ongoing to figure out how it started. The firefighters’ main focus is to control and stop the fire to prevent more damage and keep everyone safe.

What steps are authorities taking to protect residents from smoke caused by the fire at Transferium BV in Ghent?

Reporters mentioned that the fire is mostly under control but there’s still some work left to completely put it out. Firefighters are working hard to finish the job and make sure the fire doesn’t start again. They’re focusing on keeping everyone safe and stopping the fire from spreading further. It has been said that because of the ongoing firefighting work things might be a bit disrupted today. People nearby should expect possible road closures, air quality problems and other inconveniences as they work on putting out the fire. Officials are asking everyone to stay updated through official sources and follow any safety instructions given.

Because the wind changed direction smoke from the fire is now blowing towards Rime and Kluizen. This is causing more smoke in these areas especially over the R4 road. The low-hanging smoke could be risky for health and make it hard to see clearly in those places. Authorities are telling people in Rime and Kluizen to keep windows and doors shut to stop smoke from getting inside their homes. This helps reduce the risk of breathing in harmful smoke particles that can cause health issues. They’re also advising residents to stay indoors as much as possible and follow updates from local news or emergency services. The situation is being watched closely and more steps will be taken to keep the communities safe.

The firefighters think they will keep working on putting out the fire until late afternoon. Even though it’s been tough things are getting better compared to yesterday. They mentioned that the fire’s color has changed showing that it’s not as strong as before. The firefighters are doing a good job even though people are not sure when the fire will be completely out. The change in color shows they’re making a big difference. But things can still change quickly so the firefighters are working hard to keep everyone safe and control the fire.
