Madrid (The Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Spanish MEP Irene Montero calls for Spain to sever ties with Israel and impose an arms embargo after Israel’s raid on Hezbollah in Beirut resulted in casualties.

A left-wing Spanish Member of the European Parliament demanded the government in Madrid to discontinue diplomatic relations with Israel. Irene Montero of the PODEMOS party pushed her comment when writing on X about the Israeli raid on prominent Hezbollah commander Fouad Shukr in Beirut.

How Did Spain’s Irene Montero Propose to Act Against Israel?

“They are not going to stop, and Europe must stop being complicit in these genocides,” stated Montero. Reiterating her call for an arms embargo against Israel, she suggested the Spanish government capture the ship carrying fuel for Israeli forces, which is presently in Spanish waters, to prevent it from reaching the occupation state.

Earlier she said that Israel attacked Beirut. They are not going to quit and Europe must stop being complicit in these genocides. The breaking of ties and the arms embargo are critical. Furthermore, the Government must keep the ship with military fuel that is in Spanish waters to stop it from reaching Israel.

The Israeli military attacked southern Beirut, targeting Shukr in apparent revenge for Saturday’s attack on the Druze town of Majdal Shams in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. While Israel condemned Hezbollah for the attack, the Lebanese movement denied responsibility. The Lebanese Health Ministry stated at least three people were killed and 74 others injured in the Israeli strike on Beirut.
