Brussels (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): The Smurfs’ 60th birthday painting installed in 2018 suffered damage from a water leak in 2020. After repairs in 2021, it was again damaged in April 2022. Efforts are ongoing to waterproof its display area to prevent future issues.

The painting celebrating the 60th birthday of the Smurfs was put up in 2018 a big deal for the cute characters. It was meant to be a colorful and cool tribute to them. But in September 2020 it fell down because of a water leak. The leak probably happened due to some building or upkeep problems. This caused a lot of damage to the painting so they had to take it down and fix it up real good.

How are they protecting the smurf painting from water damage?

They fixed up the painting completely by 2021 putting a lot of work into making it look  good again. But in April 2022 it got messed up once more. There are ongoing problems in keeping the painting safe and sound. They still need to figure out how to control the environment and support the structure better to make sure the painting stays in good shape for a long time.

They took down the painting to stop it from getting wet like before after they fixed it. Now they’re working on making the place where it’s displayed waterproof. They’re using special stuff to seal it up and fixing any places where water could get in. By taking down the painting they can do a really good job of making sure no water can harm it. They’re doing all this to keep the painting safe from getting ruined again and make sure it stays looking great for a long time. By sealing everything up tight they’re making sure water won’t mess it up in the future. This way the painting will stay in top-notch condition for people to enjoy seeing it.
