Kyiv (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Ukrainian Interior Ministry said Russian forces launched multiple strikes on Dobropillia, a city in Donetsk Oblast. The attack resulted in casualties and injuries, according to the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration.
The ministry further said that Russian forces struck the city with ballistic missiles, multiple rockets and drones, damaging multi-storey buildings and cars.
Donetsk Oblast Governor Vadym Filashkin reported that around 11 people have been killed and 30 were wounded. It noted that more people could be trapped under the rubble. Eight apartment buildings have been impaired, the official statement said.
Dobropillia lies 94 kilometres northwest of Russian-occupied Donetsk, the administrative center of the oblast. An initial response team has been dispatched to the site of the attack and the search and rescue procedure continues.
How does Trump’s halt of intelligence sharing impact Ukraine’s defense?
U.S. President Donald Trump’s move to discontinue intelligence sharing with Kyiv has sparked concerns in Ukraine. It has been reported that Russian missile strikes could now hit the cities without prior warning.
The New York Times conveyed on March 6 that the halt on intelligence sharing could delay vital alerts about imminent Russian drones and missiles. Trump was questioned whether he would regard increasing help for Ukraine in the face of the Russian invasion by giving Kyiv more air defense munitions. That arrangement of assistance would not allow further Ukrainian attacks on Russian positions but would be immaculately defensive.
Trump announced a sharp deterioration in relations between Kyiv and Washington. According to experts, he pressures Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to conform to his proposed peace talks with Russia.
Shortly after the suspension on March 5, a Russian Iskander ballistic missile hit a hotel in Kryvyi Rih. It killed four people and injured at least 30, hammering home what’s at stake when Russian missiles are not thwarted.
