Anderlecht (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – RSCA Anderlecht’s €4M signing Ilay Camara (22) is out for weeks with injury. With Sardella and Foket unavailable, coach Brian Riemer must rely on Maamar and Vroninks.
As VRT News reported, RSCA Anderlecht is facing a problem just before the new season. Ilay Camara, their new player, is already injured. He is 22 years old and joined 2 weeks ago from Standard Liège.
The club paid around €4 million for him. That makes him their most expensive signing this summer. He has a muscle injury. Camara only played 45 minutes in a match against Raków Częstochowa. He did not get injured in the game, but during training.
What will Anderlecht do after losing Ilay Camara to injury?
The team does not have many players for that spot. Killian Sardella is still out after surgery and will not be back until August 2025. Thomas Foket is also not an option. He has been sent to the reserve team and is allowed to leave the club.
Officials mentioned that Ali Maamar is the main choice now. He has some experience but is not a regular starter. Another option is Basile Vroninks. He is a young player who has not played many big games yet.
The team is getting ready for their first league game against Westerlo. They want to start the season with a good result. Anderlecht also has to play in the Europa Conference League. They will face BK Häcken from Sweden. These games are important for the club. They want to do well in Europe for both pride and money.
Camara’s injury now puts pressure on Anderlecht’s staff. Officials mentioned that the coaches and scouts must find quick answers. They may need to use players in new positions. They could also give young players a chance earlier than planned. Another idea is to bring in a new player for a short time.
