Belgium (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – René van Tuijl, a Dutch entrepreneur, bought Game Mania back after its bankruptcy in September 2024. He plans to relaunch it with an online store for the Netherlands and Belgium by Q2 2025, focusing on gamers’ needs. Physical stores might reopen later.

René van Tuijl is a Dutch entrepreneur who has bought Game Mania. He is working on bringing the brand back. He plans to launch a new webshop for gamers in the Netherlands and Belgium by the second quarter of 2025. The main focus will be on the online store at first.

Van Tuijl is also open to reopening physical stores in the future. Authorities mentioned that he might consider ideas like a large store or a special experience shop, but there are no specific plans yet. By starting with an online presence, Game Mania hopes to grow steadily in a competitive market.

Will René van Tuil revive the Game Mania with a webshop by 2025?

Dutch entrepreneur René van Tuijl bought the chain through his company, Amazing Games BV. The store will serve customers in the Netherlands and Flanders. This change shows a move towards online shopping. It fits with what people want today in the gaming world.

Game Mania is coming back soon,

the former retail chain’s website reads.

We are working hard behind the scenes to bring Game Mania back online, with a planned relaunch in Q2 2025.

René van Tuijl shared plans for Game Mania’s return in an interview with Het Belang van Limburg. He said Game Mania aims to be a leader in gaming again by offering a good webshop. This will help them reach gamers who like to shop online.

There are no details yet about what products the webshop will have or if they will open physical stores again. Authorities mentioned that the relaunch is a chance for Game Mania to improve its image and meet the growing demand for gaming items in the Benelux area.

Our first focus is on a high-quality webshop for both the Dutch and Flemish markets,

Rene van Tuijl says in the newspaper.

Game Mania used to be a big name in gaming stores in the Netherlands and Belgium. The company is now getting ready for a new start with new owners. Game Mania had trouble staying open because of rising costs and more people shopping online.

In 2024, it faced money problems. Its parent company, Heroik, asked for help from creditors in June 2024. By September 2024, the company had to declare bankruptcy. This led to the closing of all its stores and the loss of 165 jobs.

At the time of its closure, Game Mania had 30 physical stores, with 18 in the Netherlands and 12 in Belgium. The company also had a webshop and employed around 120 staff members. Rena Van Tuijl mentioned that even though Game Mania is closed now, the brand is still well-known in the gaming community.
