Brussels Resident Triumphs in Eclectic Dance Battle

In a sold-out La Madeleine, 16 dancers competed against each other on Saturday in the final of the ‘Red Bull Dance Your Style’ competition. Brussels resident ClĂ©ry Khedhir (25) can call himself the best street dancer in Belgium for a whole year. “I can not believe it!”

The 16 finalists showed off their moves in one-on-one battles, each in their own style. From hip hop to crump, and from vogue to house. The audience chose who went to the next round by putting an interactive wristband – team red or team blue – in the air.

Ultimately, it was ClĂ©ry Khedhir from Brussels who captured the most hearts in the audience after a final against Inès Dumbi, last year’s winner.

“I can’t believe it! I went in for the audition a few months ago and actually ended up in the line-up by chance. And now here I am! I just did my thing – a little bit of tap, a little bit of hip-hop… all styles – and apparently ça a marchĂ©,” says a beaming Khedhir.

Khedhir can go to the world finals of Red Bull Dance Your Style in Frankfurt, Germany in November.
