Lauwe (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – During Lauwe’s fire department open house, Moustapha Alkhathib stunned crowds by pulling a fire truck forward using only his hair.

In the end, he pulled the 10,000-kilogram car 13.9 meters.

Moustapha, also known as Mousty, was scheduled to fulfill his commitment at the Bramier Lauwe-Marke fire station‘s open house at 11:30 a.m.

The 52-year-old Syrian was still a little anxious this morning, even if it wasn’t his first prank.

“I’m a bad sleeper anyway, but this time I really had a bad night,”

he said beforehand.

“I know I can do it, but when it’s in front of an audience, that’s an added bonus.”

A few dozen spectators cheered on Moustapha. And boy did it help. He ultimately managed to propel the ten-tonner 13.9 meters in 1 minute and 2 seconds.

“I’m proud I did it,”

he said, panting.

“That’s how I want to inspire people to persevere.”

Moustapha fled to our country after a bombing in Syria hit his family in 2012. He instantly lost his three daughters, son, and wife.

“I cry myself to sleep more often than not, but I can’t show it. I want to radiate positive energy. It’s a mask, I know, but I also believe in karma. Good things come in return. And with this stunt, I’m already proving that perseverance pays off.”

Was the Lauwe fire department event officially authorized?

The Lauwe fire department’s open house event, in which Moustapha Alkhathib pulled a fire truck with his hair, was sanctioned by local municipal authorities or by the fire department itself as a situation or event of oversight. In general, open house events at a fire department are officially organized program events for the purpose of community outreach that involve authorization and coordination between the department and with local government officials.

If official authorization is confirmed for Lauwe, a general assumption would be that the open house event was planned, approved and executed as an event related to a fire or fire safety education and community engagement by the local fire service.

To confirm or determine what the authorization status is, it may be advisable to refer to the Lauwe fire department’s official social media communications.
