Loenhout  (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A serious accident on the E19 near Loenhout involving 4 trucks and 1 car injured 1 person and caused major delays due to spilt carrots and hydraulic oil.

As VRT Newspaper, this morning, on May 20, 2025, a serious accident happened on the E19 motorway near Loenhout, in the province of Antwerp, Belgium. 4 trucks and a car were involved in the crash.

The accident caused major traffic delays and a lot of damage. Only 1 person was injured and had to go to the hospital. The trucks were badly damaged, making it hard to clean up. One of the trucks was carrying carrots, and they spilt all over the road.

When will the E19 reopen after the Loenhout truck crash?

According to An Berger from the police, the E19 might not open fully for hours. The trucks are big and broken, so they need special equipment to move them. The workers also have to clean up the spilt carrots and make the road safe. The accident is causing big problems for drivers, especially those going to the Dutch border. According to officials, people should avoid the area or follow other routes.

Officials mentioned that a truck spilt hydraulic oil, which is tough to clean from the road. This oil goes into the road surface and can make it very slippery, even after it looks clean. Cleaning it up needs special equipment and chemicals, which takes a lot of time.

The E19 near Loenhout will be completely closed for now. Drivers can’t use it and must find other routes. Officials mentioned that these routes are causing delays of at least an hour. People going from the Netherlands to Antwerp should avoid the E19.

They said the best way is to take the A12 via Bergen-op-Zoom. The A12 isn’t busy right now. Drivers should check their navigation apps or the road authority’s website for the latest news. The E19 closure is expected to last for many more hours, maybe even longer.
