Leuven (Brussels Morning Newspaper): The Red Cross is organizing a four-day blood and plasma donation drive in Leuven, expecting over 2,000 students. Locations include the Gymnasium and Alma 2, with a speech by rector Luc Sels.

The Red Cross is organizing a four-day blood and plasma donation drive in Leuven for students. The event, part of the Bloedserieus Leuven initiative, will be held at two convenient locations. On Monday and Tuesday, donations can be made at the Gymnasium, and on Wednesday and Thursday, at Alma 2, the student restaurant. These central spots are chosen to make it easier for students to donate by being close to their daily activities.

What can be expected from Leuven’s blood donation drive with Rector Luc Sels?

According to Annabel Teeuwen, chair of Bloedserieus Leuven, choosing central locations makes it easier for students to donate blood and plasma. This approach aims to attract more new donors. By making donations more convenient, the initiative hopes to raise awareness among students and encourage them to support this. The event is designed not only to increase donations but also to engage more students in regular donating.

It has been said that past donation events have been very successful, and this week, ‘Bloedserieus Leuven’ expects over 2,000 young people to participate. The event will begin with a speech from Luc Sels, the rector of KU Leuven, who stresses the importance of supporting this cause. He pointed out that blood is essential for saving lives and encourages students in Leuven to join in and donate.
