Lanaken’s Hotel La Butte aux Bois earns Michelin Key

Lanaken (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The five-star Hotel La Butte aux Bois in Lanaken has received a prestigious Michelin Key, recognising its excellence in luxury hospitality and service.

Hotels that excel in comfort, service, hospitality, and experience are recognized by the Michelin Key. In Paris, the inaugural Michelin Key awards were given out. 

Similar to Michelin stars for restaurants, the Michelin Key is the new global symbol of excellence in the hotel sector. Only hotels that excel in comfort, service, hospitality, and experience are eligible for the Michelin Key. 

Inspectors have announced selections in 15 countries in North America, Europe, and Asia since announcing the winners of the inaugural Michelin Keys in April 2024. One of the winners is La Butte aux Bois.

The awards ceremony took place at the prestigious Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

“Receiving this Michelin Key is a wonderful recognition of the hard work and dedication of our entire team,”

said Jessy Brepoels, general manager of La Butte aux Bois.

“It’s an honor to be part of this historic first ceremony and to put Belgium on the international map this way,”

she continues.

“Just being able to attend the ceremony is already a wonderful experience. And then, to have our hotel called out is even more fantastic.”

By the way, La Butte aux Bois is the only hotel in Limburg with a Michelin Key.

What specific features of La Butte aux Bois earned the Michelin Key?

Situated at the gateway to Hoge Kempen National Park, the hotel provides a peaceful and natural ambiance on an historic estate that dates from 1924 and is 12 hectares. The location combines nature with art, allowing for a restful retreat.

La Butte aux Bois has 60 lavish rooms and suites, from manor rooms to villas and ultra-modern forest rooms with stunning views. The designs include joint ventures with famous designers, such as Jewel Suite Missoni.

The Michelin-star Restaurant Ralf Berendsen that is a two-Michelin-star restaurant in the hotel has restaurant quality creative and innovative cooking with classical ingredients combined with modern technique. In addition, there is also a Bistrôt Le Ciel that is nature inspired, serving Franco-Belgian cuisine with global influences.
