Belgium (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): KU Leuven received a 62-volume collection of Chinese paintings worth €100,000, featuring 12,400 images. The donation enhances academic resources and accessibility for students and researchers.

The set called ‘A Complete Collection of Old Chinese Paintings’ covers almost 2,000 years of Chinese art and is worth about €100,000. The set has 62 books with about 12,400 pictures. It’s heavy, weighing 1.8 tons, and took nearly 20 years to make. This is the key and most complete collection of Chinese paintings ever created. On Wednesday, there was a special event at KU Leuven where they gave the first book of a new collection to the library. Professors, students, and important guests were there to celebrate. Someone talked about how crucial it is to save knowledge for the future and how this book can help with research and learning.

How Will KU Leuven Manage Its New Collection?

They said the other books will be added to the library slowly. They want to ensure each book is in the right place for students and researchers to find easily. Adding more books will give KU Leuven better resources for everyone and maintain its high academic standards. The university proudly houses the exclusive collection of Chinese paintings in Belgium, showcasing a rich history spanning over 2,000 years. Anyone at the university, including researchers and students, can access these valuable works.
