Tel Aviv (Brussels Morning Newspaper – On Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced they conducted airstrikes near the Beaufort Ridge in southern Lebanon, targeting what they described as Hezbollah’s underground facilities.

Israeli forces have reported military activity, which the IDF states violates the IDF-Lebanese armed force arrangements. Notably, in August, specifically 2025, the IDF undertook a number of airstrikes and aerial operations against Hezbollah sites and operatives in southern Lebanon.

What targets were hit by the IDF during the raids?

“A short while ago, the IDF (army) struck military infrastructure, including underground infrastructure, at a Hezbollah site in which military activity was identified, in the area of the Beaufort Ridge in southern Lebanon,”

The military said in a statement.

“The existence of the site and the activity within it constitute a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon,”

It added.

Lebanon has agreed to propose a plan to persuade Hezbollah to disarm. Meanwhile, Israel will present a framework for its troop withdrawal, according to U.S. envoy Tom Barrack. However, Hezbollah has consistently stated it has no plans to disarm as long as Israel persists in its attacks and occupies parts of southern Lebanon.

Earlier this month, Lebanon’s cabinet approved the goals of a US proposal aimed at restricting weapons possession exclusively to the state, despite Hezbollah’s opposition, which labeled it a “march in humiliation” and a surrender to Israel and the US.

What areas in South Lebanon faced Israeli strikes in August?

In earlier strikes, Israel executed a cluster of attacks on Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon in early to mid-August 2025. On August 4 to August 17, 2025, the IDF struck numerous Hezbollah military installations and operatives in South Lebanon, including the South Lebanon Governorate and Nabatieh Governorate. These included distinct locations, such as Khiam, Marjayoun District, Tyre, and Bint Jbeil.
