Antwerp (The Brussels Morning Newspapr): Two explosions occurred in Antwerp’s Borgerhout and Hove, damaging homes and cars but causing no injuries. A 24-year-old suspect was arrested, and authorities are investigating possible connections to drug-related activities
On 31st July at 3:00 am there were big problems in Antwerp and nearby areas because of two big bangs. The first one happened in Kwekerijstraat in Borgerhout an area with lots of different kinds of people. The second one was in Jan Frans Gellyncklaan in Hove a place just outside Antwerp. The police said both things happened but they’re still figuring out why and what happened exactly. They don’t know yet if anyone got hurt or how bad things are. The authorities are checking to see if the two explosions are connected and who did it. The emergency helpers are there and they’re making things safer for everyone.
What caused the explosions in Borgerhout and Hove?
In Hove another bang caused a lot of damage to the cars there too. The big bangs broke a lot of things but no one got hurt. The police are checking to see if the two things are related and who did them. The emergency helpers are looking at the damage and making sure the places are safe.After the big bangs the science lab and the bomb disposal team are now at the places in Borgerhout and Hove. They are looking at the clues and making sure there are no more dangerous things left behind. The Antwerp police led by Kim Bastiaens, think these types of attacks are usually connected to drugs in the city. But they’re not sure yet if these explosions are because of that. The police are checking everything to find out why this happened and who did it.
Suzy the neighbor from Hove said that she was really surprised by the explosion. It was so loud that she thought it was a gunshot at first. When she looked out of her window she saw thick smoke showing how serious the explosion was. Suzy, who doesn’t know the people affected by the explosion was really worried and couldn’t believe what happened. The big explosion and the smoke made a big impact on her.
After the explosion all the neighbors ran outside and called the police. Suzy was really scared. They caught a 24-year-old suspect using neighborhood research and cameras. The police are checking if the two explosions are linked.
