Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – 4 men broke into a Brussels apartment (Krakeelstraat) on July 9–10, 2025. A fight broke out; one 23-year-old suspect died after falling. Police and prosecutor Laura Demullier are investigating.

AS VRT News reported, late at night between Wednesday, July 9th, 2025 and Thursday, July 10th, 2025, on Krakeelstraat in Brussels, 4 men tried to break into an apartment by climbing up the outside wall of the building. They used an open window to get inside. This was confirmed by the Brussels public prosecutor’s office.

What happened during the deadly Brussels break-in?

After entering the apartment, the 4 men who broke in began to fight with the 2 residents in the apartment. The 2 resident males attempted to escape by climbing back out the same window they had come in. During their escape, a 23-year-old male slipped or lost his balance and fell from the first floor, while the other three men had escaped through the window. He died right there from his injuries.

The 3 other men who broke into the apartment got away and have not been found yet. Police are trying to find out who they are. They also want to know what each person did during the break-in and the fight. The 2 people who live in the apartment will be asked questions too.

Police are unsure if the people in the apartment knew the men who committed the break-in. The police are talking to witnesses. They are also reviewing camera footage and looking for evidence in the apartment.

After the incident, the Brussels public prosecutor asked the federal police’s forensic team to study the scene. A special doctor, called a pathologist, was also asked to do an autopsy on the 23-year-old suspect to find out how he died. They say this is to keep the investigation safe. Many things are still not clear. The police are still looking into all of it.
