Anderlecht (Brussels Morning Newspaper): A fire on Fiennestraat in Anderlecht killed three people and injured at least 13, including children. Investigations are ongoing, led by the public prosecutor’s office and fire experts.

On 8th November at around 1:10 a.m., emergency services were called to a big fire on Fiennestraat in Anderlecht. Firefighters, medical teams, and police arrived to find a lot of smoke and fire. At least three people died, and several others, including children, were taken to the hospital. It has been said that the cause of the fire is still being looked into, but there are worries about the building not having proper fire safety measures, like working fire doors and smoke detectors. It was also reported that the building was overcrowded, which made things worse.

What led to the fatal fire in Anderlecht?

Search efforts are still ongoing in the rubble, with drones being used to find any missing people. The fire caused a lot of damage, and officials are trying to see how bad it is. At least 13 people went to the hospital, with four in critical condition, and others are still being looked for. Authorities mentioned that this event has raised worries about housing conditions, and officials are thinking about making stricter safety rules.

A fire started in a three-story building with a shop on the ground floor. Walter Derieuw from the Brussels fire brigade said the fire happened in the stairwell and caused part of the building to fall. The public prosecutor’s office is looking into what caused the fire and has brought in a forensic doctor and a fire expert to help.
