Sint-Niklaas (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A strike by 43 Bpost workers in Sint-Niklaas, now in its 5th day, delays mail. Workers demand permanent staff. Bpost talks individually and meets unions on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, to resolve tension.

As VRT News reported, a strike is ongoing at the Bpost centre in Sint-Niklaas, involving 43 postal workers. The strike, now in its 5th day, started because workers feel their workload is too heavy. Bpost and union leaders have met, but they haven’t found a solution.

The postal workers want more permanent staff to help with the deliveries. They say there aren’t enough people to do the work, which is causing stress. Mail services in the area are delayed because of the strike, and there’s no end date yet.

What will end the Bpost strike by 43 workers in Sint-Niklaas?

Bpost has suggested hiring temporary workers to ease the pressure on the current team, but the unions have turned this down. They insist that only permanent staff can fix the long-term problems. Bpost management has started talking to each of the 43 striking workers individually. Some see this as a way to get people back to work without agreeing with the unions. However, the unions are concerned that this might make things more tense.

Bpost is trying a new approach to end the strike in Sint-Niklaas. Instead of just talking to the unions, they are now talking to each of the 43 striking workers individually. They want to understand what each worker is concerned about.

A Bpost spokesperson said that they hope this will help them find out what is wrong. These talks will continue until Tuesday, July 8, 2025. On Tuesday, there will also be new talks between Bpost and the unions. They hope these different approaches will help them find a solution.

The strike is causing big problems for mail services. A lot of mail is stuck at the Sint-Niklaas centre because many postmen are not working. Bpost says they are delivering important mail, like letters about deaths, quickly.

They mentioned that packages are also taking longer to arrive. Even though some services are still running, the strike is causing trouble for people in the area. Bpost and the workers need to agree to end the strike soon. It’s not clear if the new talks will work.
