Washington (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – US President Donald Trump stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin had “gone absolutely CRAZY” for launching the most extensive aerial assault of the war against Ukraine. He mentioned he was considering new sanctions on Russia but also criticised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

Last night, Moscow launched 355 drones and nine missiles toward Ukraine, marking a record number of drones, according to the Ukrainian air force.

The US president shared his thoughts on social media as Ukrainians, sleep-deprived from three nights of consecutive Moscow air raids, listened for hours to the sound of drones near their homes and the eruptions of Ukrainian anti-aircraft fire.

What did Trump say about Putin’s actions?

He stated on Truth Social,

“Something has happened to the Russian president. He has gone absolutely CRAZY!”

while discussing the seizure by Moscow from the previous night.

While talking to journalists, Trump remarked on Putin:

“I don’t know what’s wrong with him. What the hell happened to him? Right? He’s killing a lot of people. I’m not happy about that.”

Trump suggested increasing sanctions on Russia due to the continuing attacks.

“I have always asserted that he wants ALL of Ukraine, rather than just a portion, and this may now be validated; yet, if true, it will lead to Russia’s demise!”

Why is Trump criticising Zelenskiy during the war?

The US president also slammed the Ukrainian leader, stating that he “is doing his Country no favours by talking the way he does. Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop.”

How many drones did Russia launch on Ukraine?

According to reports, from Saturday night to Sunday morning, Russia launched its most extensive aerial attack on Ukraine since the onset of its full-scale invasion in February 2022. This assault resulted in the deaths of at least 12 individuals and left dozens injured, with Russia deploying 367 drones and missiles. On Sunday night, attacks from Moscow persisted, although they appeared to be more restricted.

The Ukrainian Air Force announced that the third consecutive Russian aerial assault struck targets in five different locations, suggesting military damage occurred. They reported that overnight, Russia carried out a significant attack, utilising 355 drones and nine cruise missiles. The air force’s spokesman noted that this represents the largest drone offensive by Russia in the ongoing conflict, according to a Reuters report.
