Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – An 88-year-old Pope Francis, has been in a Rome hospital since February 14, 2025, due to a lung infection. He is improving but still needs oxygen. He continues working, thanking supporters for prayers.

Pope Francis is getting better after being in the hospital since February 14th, 2025. He is 88 years old and has a lung problem from a past surgery. He had trouble breathing a few times, but he is now doing better. He doesn’t have a fever and his oxygen levels are good.

Doctors are hopeful, but they are careful because he is old and has health problems. He still gets oxygen during the day and uses a breathing machine at night. There is no set date for when he will go home or be fully recovered.

How is Pope Francis managing his duties in the hospital?

Pope Francis has been working from his hospital bed despite his health issues. He has sent messages to different groups, including a letter to people on a pro-life pilgrimage. He even wrote a speech for a special mass, which was read by Cardinal Michael Czerny.

Even though he hasn’t been seen in public, Vatican officials say he is still thinking clearly and dedicated to his work. He mentioned that Pope Francis’ health problems have raised concerns about whether he can keep up with his busy schedule as Pope, but for now, they focused on his recovery.

Pope Francis is still in the hospital in Rome. He’s been there for 3 weeks, getting better slowly from a bad lung infection. Doctors don’t know when he’ll be able to go home yet. The Vatican says he works a little and rests a little, trying to do his Pope job even though he’s not feeling well. Someone else had to do a special mass that the Pope usually does. This is another time he had to ask someone else to do something because he was not feeling well.

Pope Francis recorded a message to thank people for praying for him. He said he’s grateful for their support. Many people have been praying outside the hospital and at the Vatican. They’ve left gifts. People mentioned that even though he’s not feeling well, the Pope is still a leader for many people. He’s working as much as he can from his hospital bed.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart,

Pope Francis said.
