Anderlecht (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): On 2nd October, there was a shooting near the Aumale metro station in Anderlecht. The shooter fled in a car. During a subsequent chase, a passenger fired at police but no injuries were reported. The incident may involve a military-style weapon and is linked to an earlier shooting.

On 2nd October at around 7:15 p.m., Brussels-South police responded to a shooting near Aumale metro station in Anderlecht. Police blocked the area to gather evidence and actively search for the suspect, who remains at large. Later that evening, officers attempted to stop a car on Dantestraat after observing suspicious behavior and traffic violations, which is believed to be linked to the earlier shooting.

How did a high-speed chase escalate to a shooting at Police?

The situation began when people in a suspicious car tried to escape from the police, leading to a high-speed chase. The driver drove recklessly, ignoring traffic rules and putting others in danger while trying to get away. As the chase continued, the suspects managed to get a small lead over the police car, allowing one of the passengers to make a risky move. At a critical moment, one of the passengers got out of the car and fired a weapon at the police officers, trying to stop them. The officers avoided getting hit and were not injured.

One of the bullets hit the windshield of another car behind the police. There were several people inside, but the driver got to safety just in time, and no one was hurt. Early reports suggest the attackers might have used a military-style weapon, like a Kalashnikov. There may also be a connection to an earlier shooting near the Aumale metro station. The public prosecutor’s office has called in experts and police to investigate. They are taking this very seriously and are working hard to find the people responsible.
