According to Morace, the Sasso resolution, which was approved by the Culture Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, claims that there are educational abuses in schools referred to as “gender ideology.” This, she argues, constitutes a genuine witch hunt and is evidently at odds with the principles of non-discrimination and gender equality upheld by the European Union.

Europe is failing to shield LGBTQ+ people from rising violence, according to new data, despite some legislative progress, expressed rights groups. The latest assessment published by LGBTQ+ advocacy group ILGA-Europe discovered that Poland, Italy and the Czech Republic are particularly trailing in measures to protect groups. In part, those nations lack comprehensive laws or policies against hate discourse and hate crimes based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
An investigation by the EU’s Fundamental Rights Agency also demonstrates little improvement between 2019 and 2023 when it comes to addressing hatred and violence against LGBTQ+ communities. The number of LGBTQ+ people who underwent hate-motivated violence, including physical and sexual attacks, in the five years preceding the survey rose from 11 per cent in 2019 to 14 per cent in 2023.
