32 drivers run red lights at Stadspark, Antwerp police act

Antwerp (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Police near Stadspark, Antwerp, caught 32 drivers running red lights, 128 signal violators, and mobile phone users. 3 licenses were revoked. Wouter Bruyns warned drivers; 24 were fined for illegal parking.

As VRT News reported, police carried out a traffic control near Stadspark, Antwerp, yesterday, Nov 13, 2025, and found many violations in just 4 hours. They stopped 32 drivers who ran red lights. Another 128 drivers ignored traffic signals. 

Some motorists were also using their mobile phones while driving. Police took action and revoked 3 driving licenses for 15 days. During the check, officers also seized a tuned scooter and an uninsured car. 

What happens when drivers ignore red lights and mobile rules at Stadspark, Antwerp?

In addition to these moving violations, 24 drivers received fines for illegal parking. Police said the operation is part of ongoing work to make roads safer. They want to reduce accidents and make sure drivers follow the rules. 

Wouter Bruyns from the Antwerp police has issued a warning to drivers to follow traffic rules. He said traffic lights must always be watched carefully. Drivers must stop when the light is red.

“For safety reasons, it is necessary to obey traffic signals,”

Bruyns said.

Since the beginning of 2025, police in Antwerp have focused more on traffic safety. They are paying close attention to drivers using mobile phones while driving. By July 4, 2025, more than 3,000 driving licences had been revoked in the province. 

Drivers caught using their phones face a 15‑day suspension. In addition, on June 2, 2025, the Flemish Government and the VSV launched a campaign called “Focus on the road, not on your mobile.”
