Kyiv (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy hopes the United States and Europe will be involved in any discussions regarding the conclusion Russia-Ukraine war, he explained to journalists.
At a joint news session with Moldovan President Maia Sandu, Zelenskiy stated Ukraine was also required to be involved in any discussions about ending the war for such negotiations to have any significant influence.
As for what the set-up of the talks will be: Ukraine, I really hope Ukraine will be there, America, Europe and the Russians,
Zelenskiy stated.
Yes, I would really want that Europe would take part because we will be members of the European Union.
Zelenskiy further said he believed new U.S. President Donald Trump could conclude the war but that he would only be capable of doing so if he engaged Ukraine in the talks. “He can only do this with Ukraine. Otherwise, it will not work. Because Russia does not want to end the war, while Ukraine wants to end it.”
How could Trump’s leadership influence the Russia-Ukraine war?
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has often expressed concrete expectations regarding the incoming U.S. administration led by Donald Trump and its likely role in terminating the ongoing war with Russia. Zelenskyy has said that the strength and unpredictability of Trump will be useful to negotiate an end to the war between Ukraine and Russia.
He claimed that if the new U.S. administration presents a strong stance, the war between Ukraine and Russia, which started in February 2022, will be settled sooner.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke in a radio discussion on November 16, 2024, that he thinks the war with Russia will end “faster” if Trump becomes president again.
He said that would be due to Trump’s policies and his resolve to bring the situation to a close. Zelenskyy said Ukraine must do its share to make the war end diplomatically, and he says he holds optimism for the new administration’s approach toward the war.
