Vilvoorde (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Vilvoorde is opening a store for affordable used sports equipment, with donations collected at locations like ‘t Zeepaardje. Alderman Laure Scheerlinck supports this initiative in partnership with Sport Vlaanderen.

Vilvoorde is opening a special store where people can buy used sports equipment for less money. Officials mentioned that this will help people who need a little extra help to get the things they need to start exercising and playing sports.  

The city hopes this will help more people get active and enjoy the benefits of playing sports. Alderman Laure Scheerlinck is helping to make a difference. He mentioned that the city knows it’s hard for some people to join a sports club because they don’t have enough money.  

How is Vilvoorde making sports more accessible with used gear?

The Vilvoorde store is also asking people to donate their old sports gear.  The city will give this gear to people who can’t afford to buy new equipment. The city hopes this will encourage more people to get active and improve their health.

Vilvoorde is working with local groups to collect used sports gear. People can drop off their old sports stuff at the city’s swimming pool, ‘t Zeepaardje. There is a special donation box there, too. The city wants to make donations as convenient as possible for citizens, so they are placing donation boxes where citizens are already engaging in sports. The city of Vilvoorde is working with other cities and towns in Flanders to collect used sports equipment.  They’re putting donation boxes in 17 different places throughout the region.  This program is run by Sport Vlaanderen.  

They want to collect a lot of sports gear so they can give it to people who need it.
