Vilvoorde hosts Japan Fes 2025 cultural celebration

Vilvoorde (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Japan Fes 2025, a Japanese culture celebration, will be held on April 12-13 at Asiat Park in Vilvoorde. There is martial arts, food, workshops, and cosplay. 

Japan Fes 2025 is scheduled to take place on April 12 and 13 at Asiat Park in Vilvoorde. Officials mentioned that this festival will let people explore Japanese culture. After last year’s event in Hasselt, which had 6,000 visitors, the festival is moving to a new location. They mentioned that there will be many activities to enjoy. 

According to the authorities, participants can visit cultural shows, and participate in workshops. These will include calligraphy classes, tea ceremonies, and Taiko drum performances.  The event will showcase martial arts displays. Fans of Japanese pop culture can join costume competitions, explore anime attractions, and enjoy arcade games.

What can attendees expect at Japan Fes 2025?

According to officials, Japan Fes 2025 will offer real Japanese food for everyone. Japan Fes 2025 will probably have more visitors than the previous years. The mayor of Vilvoorde, Jo De Ro, is happy that the city will host the Japanese festival. He hopes it will be the biggest festival in the Benelux area. He mentioned that working with the sister city Komatsu in Japan shows the strong bond between the two cities. 

According to Jo De Ro, Vilvoorde is a place that brings different cultures together, and Japan Fes is a good example of that. The mayor wishes for this festival to become a yearly event that celebrates Japanese culture and strengthens friendship between the countries.

Japanese Ambassador to Belgium Masahiro Mikami

Japan’s ambassador to Belgium, Masahiro Mikami, addressed the ceremony marking the upcoming 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Belgium in 2026. Ambassador Mikami claims that Japan Fes is not just a Japanese cultural festival but much more.

“Our diplomatic and cultural friendship will be 160 years old in 2026. Japan Fes is not only a celebration of Japanese traditions, but also a platform to stimulate cooperation and strengthen ties.” Masahiro Mikami said.
