Halle (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Last night, Dec 26, 2025, vandals hit 11 bus shelters in Halle, Beersel, and Sint-Pieters-Leeuw. Zennevallei police are investigating, no suspects yet, and municipal services will repair the damage.
As VRT News reported, Bus shelters were vandalised last night, Dec 26, 2025, in Halle, Beersel, and Sint-Pieters-Leeuw. At least 11 locations were hit in just a few hours. The damage was reported from the town square in Buizingen to Bergensesteenweg in Brukom, and from Jozef Huysmanslaan in Lot to Prinsenbos in Lembeek. The incidents caused concern among local authorities and residents.
What caused damage to 11 bus shelters in Halle, Beersel and Sint-Pieters-Leeuw?
The Zennevallei police said the attacks were “remarkably widespread.” They noted that the large area made monitoring the incidents difficult. Investigations are ongoing, but no suspects have been identified yet. Police asked residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
Technical services from Beersel, Halle, and Sint-Pieters-Leeuw have been notified. They will clean up and repair the damaged shelters. Officials said they will work quickly to limit inconvenience for bus passengers and residents.
“Such incidents not only cause significant costs and are extremely disruptive to residents, but also affect travellers who rely on public transportation,”
the statement said.
From Monday, June 9th, through Tuesday, June 10th 2014, vandals vandalised 11 bus shelters throughout Sint-Pieters-Leeuw. During this time, glass panels were shattered at different locations in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw and adjacent municipalities.
The local police have reported that they have no suspect(s) for this crime, and they have encouraged citizens to communicate any information about the incidents. In addition to damaging property, these attacks also disorderly affect public transportation.
