Kyiv (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – In a visit to Ukraine on February 5, 2025, UK’s foreign minister David Lammy will announce further financial support of 55 million pounds to put it in the “strongest position possible.”

As reported by Reuters, during his visit, the UK’s foreign minister will engage with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and other government officials to examine how UK and international partners can continue to back Kyiv.

“Our support for Ukraine remains unbreakable,”

Lammy stated.

“We are determined to put Ukraine in the strongest possible position, both in its fight against Russia and beyond.”

UK foreign office expressed Britain would deliver three million pounds for deliveries of Ukrainian grain and other food produce to Syria; as part of the new financial scheme, 17 million pounds will go to innovative energy schemes, 10 million to assist the recovery of Ukrainian businesses and 25 million to back family and community-based services, the foreign office stated.

How is the UK committed to supporting Ukraine?

The UK has pledged around £12.8 billion in total aid to Ukraine since February 2022, including military and non-military assistance. In all, the UK has allocated around £7.8 billion directly to military aid.

Since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war in February 2022, the United Kingdom has significantly increased its assistance to Ukraine in all aspects.

The UK has committed military assistance worth £3 billion for fiscal year 2024/25, with this level of commitment assured yearly at least up to fiscal 2030/31. Through loan guarantees by the World Bank, the UK has offered some £4.1 billion in fiscal support to stabilise the economy and support public services in Ukraine.
