Kyiv (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged allies to honor all pledges to provide Ukraine with weapons, notably to repel Russian air attacks.

Volodymyr Zelenskiy expressed that the Kremlin forces, over the past week, launched several attacks on Ukraine, and around 600 attack drones and approximately 700 aerial bombs were employed. A total of 60 of the 94 drones fired by Russia overnight were intercepted by Ukrainian air defences, the air force noted. It stated that 34 drones were lost as a result of Ukraine using electronic warfare to divert Russian drones.

As reported by Reuters, Volodymyr Zelenskiy further said,

Every week, the Russian fight rages only because the Russian army maintains its ability to terrorize Ukraine and manipulate its superiority in the sky.

He urged Ukraine’s partners to fulfill contracts already made.

The conclusions made at the NATO summit in Washington, as well as those assumed during the Ramstein discussions concerning air defenses for Ukraine, have still not been fully executed,

Zelenskiy stated.

What does the $2 billion aid package include for Ukraine?

This follows a January 10th allies meeting during which they agreed to send a $2 billion package in support of Ukraine. Such aid focuses on various areas, such as improving air defense and naval forces capabilities as well as enhancing artillery systems-the areas considered fundamental for Ukraine’s current defense purposes. Eight roadmaps were developed by participants outlining key goals for the Ukrainian Defense Forces through 2027.

These roadmaps will help coordinate military assistance and ensure that donors can plan their support effectively. One of the primary topics discussed was the urgent need for air defense capabilities to counter Russian aggression. Zelenskiy emphasized the importance of timely delivery of these systems to bolster Ukraine’s defense.
