Kyiv (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The Ukrainian Air Force said its air defence units downed 90 of 174 drones launched by Russia in an overnight attack. It said 70 drones were lost as a result of the Ukrainian military using electronic warfare to redirect them.

“Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Sumy, Chernihiv and Kyiv regions were affected by the Russian attack,”

The military said. Russia has been bombarding Odesa and the Odesa region with drones and missiles every day for the past three weeks. The region is critical for Ukrainian maritime exports.

One civilian was wounded during the attack, which harmed a kindergarten, a private residential home, a shop and a passenger car, Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper stated. Kiper said nearly 500 residents in the suburbs of Odesa were cut off from electricity after drones attacked energy infrastructure.

How is Russia increasing drone strikes on Ukrainian territory?

A few weeks ago, Russia fired a record 267 drones into Ukraine overnight, wrecking infrastructure and killing at least 3 people, one day before the world marks the third year of Moscow’s full-scale attack.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed that it was

“the largest attack since Iranian drones began hitting Ukrainian cities and villages.”

Ukraine’s air force revealed that 138 drones were downed over 13 Ukrainian areas, with 119 more lost en route to their targets.

It was also reported that three ballistic missiles had been fired, the Air Force said. One person lost their life in a missile strike on the city of Kryvyi Rih, according to the director of the Kryvyi Rih military administration. Zelenskyy expressed Russia has launched about 1,150 drones, more than 1,400 guided aerial bombs and 35 missiles this week.

“Every day, our people stand against aerial terror,”

Zelenskyy noted.
