Uccle cyclist slightly injured after 10 stabs in the forest

Uccle (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A cyclist was stabbed at least 10 times near the 2016 attacks memorial in the Sonian Forest, Uccle. The victim survived. Prosecutor Rym Kechiche confirmed; the attacker remains unidentified.

As VRT News reported, a cyclist was stabbed in the Sonian Forest near Uccle, Brussels, on Friday afternoon, May 16, 2025. The attack happened near the memorial for the victims of the March 2016 terrorist attacks, located along the Infantastraat. A witness walking in the forest found a group of people assisting the injured cyclist. 

The victim, who was injured and traumatised, explained that a masked individual had assaulted him a few minutes ago. The emergency services were notified, and the Brussels public prosecutor verified the facts of the crime.

Who stabbed the cyclist near the 2016 memorial in Uccle’s Sonian Forest?

The attacker’s identity is still unknown, and no suspects have been arrested yet. The public prosecutor’s office has started an investigation into the stabbing. They are asking witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. According to authorities, the Sonian Forest, usually a peaceful place, now has increased concerns about public safety after this violence.

According to spokesperson Rym Kechiche, the victim, a cyclist, was stabbed at least 10 times during the attack. He was quickly taken to the hospital and is currently in intensive care. Although his injuries are severe, doctors have said his life is not in danger. 

The reason for the stabbing is still unknown, according to spokesperson Kechiche. Investigation is ongoing. Authorities are looking at the evidence. They mentioned that the incident has made people worry about safety in public places.
